December 29 - January 1 2017-18 Meditation / Mindfulness Silent Retreat

Anual New Years Eve Weekend Silent Meditation Retreat

This retreat will focus on the views of presence, letting go and an understanding of the hindrances to personal happiness and how these topics relate to the practice of Buddhist insight meditation and mindfulness.

When we embrace and allow all areas of our experience with awareness, painful patterns in body and mind begin to dissolve. Gently, we learn how to accept and let go of judgment and reactivity within ourselves. As we practice the art of meditation, and as we non-judjmentaly view and understand what is standing in the way of stillness and joy, the result is that clarity begins to shine through.

This silent retreat will include sitting and walking meditation practices, collage work, interviews, periods for questions and answers, and dharma talks.

Shane Wilson is an ordained Buddhist minister and a former Theravada monk. He has been teaching and leading shorter retreats in the Mesa Arizona area for the past ten years. He has practiced with Western and Asian teachers from a variety of traditions in the US, China, and Thailand. He is the author: Meditation, The Great Teacher, the practice of going within, and Minding the Breath, meditation techniques of the anapanasati.

The Retreat will begin with dinner at 6:30 PM, Friday, December 29, followed by the formal opening at 8:00 PM. The retreat will end after lunch Monday, January 1. All meals (vegetarian) will be provided. Single and double rooms are available.

There are hiking trails and open woods in the area. The accommodations are very comfortable and quite. You will want to bring a sitting cushion and pad for meditation and your personal items. The retreat will be held in silence to facilitate the practice of going within.

Cost: $270 shared accommodations or $380 private room. Fees cover the operating costs of the retreat and meals. Free-will donations in support of the teacher are requested at the end of the retreat.

You must register by December 27th. This is important for facility preparation and meal planning.
